What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've lost your Nissan keyfob or it's stopped working. Before you panic or contact the dealer, go back and see the last place you had it.
It's not difficult to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. It's not long before you'll get the hang out of it.
Smart Keys Keys
The key fob that came with your Nissan is an important element of the car's modern keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic system to open doors or start the engine, and has a practical design that's easy to keep in your pocket. A key fob can also provide convenience features, like security against lockouts. This feature will ensure that you don't accidentally leave your vehicle with the keys inside.
Smart keys work wirelessly, unlike previous models that required you to insert the key into an ignition slot to access your vehicle's internal systems. When you get close to the vehicle your Nissan detects the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This can include opening and closing the doors, raising or lowering the tailgate and even launching the engine.
Certain smart key models are equipped with a valet key hidden in the metal. The key can be removed from an opening on the back of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box before handing it over to a valet. Intelligent Key Fob
With a Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can unlock the doors of your car and start its engine with a push of the button. You can also select an array of presets that are based on your preferences, like altering the mirrors or seat for maximum comfort. You can also manage the music via your smartphone, meaning you'll never need to leave your vehicle.
Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna which transmits the signal when you enter your vehicle or press one of its buttons. Once the vehicle receives the signal, the system is activated opening and locking doors, kicking off the engine, and opening the trunk. To test the fob out remove yourself from your car and press on the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds then you've successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries to function. If yours runs out the batteries, our Parts Department can help you change it quickly and conveniently. To do this, take out the hidden key and open the battery compartment on your key fob. Replace the old battery with a new one after you have removed the old one. Make sure that the positive face of the new battery faces in the same direction as it did in the previous one. Close the battery compartment and then return the hidden key back to its hidden position inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start enables drivers to cool or heat their vehicles from outside, provided they're within the operating range. The ignition of the vehicle is activated by pressing a button on key fobs or a smartphone application. The remote start system can also activate climate control to allow the driver to select their preferred temperature. Some systems have two-way communication that allows the driver be aware of what is happening inside their vehicle.

Lockout Protection
Lockout protection stops lockouts that result from impedance malfunctions. A specific module within the power control unit monitors the activity of the impedance relay, and turns off the output. This feature is only available for vehicles equipped with the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu of the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have occurred due to an equipment started running when it was supposed to be completely off for maintenance or repairs. These accidents are often caused by stored energy that is not properly released. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) which makes sure that machines are shut off until an authorized individual releases them, helps to prevent these accidents.
The LOTO system consists of a set of locks tags, locks and other devices that are used to isolate, secure or shut off the machine from an electrical source. All "affected", "authorized", and "qualified" personnel must be taught about the use of these devices. These devices include, but are not restricted to locks, chains and padlocks. Each device is singularly identified and labeled, containing the date and time of application, the name of the person authorized, and the reason for the lockout/tag-out (repair, maintenance, etc). It must be stated clearly that these devices are not to be removed until the LOTO procedure is complete.
